Web Design
My web design methods differ from quite a few other designers. I'm not designing you something to lock me into your life. I want to design you something that will enable you, the client, to manage your own site going forward. Let me explain what I mean. Some designers will design you a static HTML or Flash site which while great looking, doesn't usually allow for easy updating.
What if you want to add a new special, update your prices and offerings, add new contact info, or any one of a million other things? Unless you know how to edit HTML or Flash code, your stuck calling your designer and paying them again to edit items. Some designers will offer a few edits as part of the package. But then once again, the moment that time frame is over, your paying again.
There's also the old method of a web designer setting you up for web hosting (a place to put your website) on their own server. This means that you are stuck paying a designer a monthly fee to host your site. In addition, if their internet connection goes down, your stuck with no website. If a hurricane comes through, once again, out of a site.
I don't do either one of these. If you want an HTML site or a Flash site, I can design them, but as I said before, I'd prefer to set up a site that you can manage on your own. I also set up your web hosting a with nationally recognized company that is inexpensive, has great support, and has great uptime. What do these two things mean? Your not stuck to me at all. You can call me if you need to, but I make it easy for you to get up and running and on your own!
I prefer to design websites using Joomla and WordPress. Both of these offer great advantages over standard HTML and Flash sites for small businesses. For one, they are extremely easy to update and add new content. Secondly, they are extremely customizable and can be setup quickly. Lastly, they are better for search engine optimization than a Flash site and are easier to add SEO features to than an HTML site.
Below are some average prices. However, once we cover what you need I'd be able to give you a better idea.
DNS, Web Hosting, and Email setup – $100 (then you cover your recurring costs annually for domain fee and hosting, about $70/year)
WordPress Site – $400-$600 (I’ll work with you to see what you need, and train you how to update it)
Joomla Site – $500-$700 (I’ll work with you to see what you need, and train you how to update it)
HTML Site – $1000-$1300 (I’ll throw in a couple free updates for the first 6 months)
FLASH Site – $2000-$2500 (I’ll throw in a couple free updates for the first 6 months)
